* You should have an appointment with your veterinarian within 72 hours
after you receive your puppy for a check up.

* You will need to keep your veterinarian's phone number where everyone in your home can find it at any time if
your puppy/dog gets hurt or is not feeling well.
* You should take your puppy/dog to your vet for regular check-ups.

* Here are a few things you will need :
* A bed / crate / dog house
* Purina
Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy Formula
* Food & Water Bowls (we recommend stainless steel)
* Leash & Collar or Harness
(we provide a 4 ft leash & a collar that fits up to 14 in. - puppies grow quickly and will need a larger collar soon)
* Check your pup's collar often as he/she grows to make sure it is not to tight.
* Chew toys, bones, treats
* Brush, Comb, Rake, Nail Clippers
* Puppy shampoo

* If you do not plan to train your new puppy yourself, you should get him/her enrolled in a puppy training or puppy
kindergarten class soon after you get him/her. We feel that Alaskan Malamute puppies should be trained. An unruly
dog/puppy is not a joy to live with and we want you to enjoy your puppy/dog for many years.
Petsmart and Petco have training classes.

* You will need to feed your puppy 3 times per day until 6 months of age , then twice a day.
Make sure your puppy always has clean/fresh water.
Take your puppy out to the bathroom within 30 minutes of feeding to start potty training.  Our puppies are fed
Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy Formula. If you want to change their feed, you should do it slowly over 10 days.
Mix a little more of the new food with the old food each day. You should be switched to the new food by the 10th
day. If you do not switch them over slowly, you will aggravate their digestive system and they will develop diarrhea
and could dehydrate.

* Puppy proof your home and yard.
Cords, cleaners, etc. need to be out of your puppy's sight and reach.
* One of our past puppies drank the water after his owner washed their RV. The RV wash made him very sick and
he had to be treated by their veterinarian.
* Another puppy was taken out to a field to play fetch and he got very sick. Someone had sprayed a pesticide and it
got on the puppy's ball and then into his mouth.
So please be aware of what goes into your pups mouth!

* We recommend that you do not take your puppy to a dog park until he/she is at least 12 weeks old and has had
all of their vaccinations. Puppies are very susceptible to Parvo. Your veterinarian will recommend the rest of the
vaccinations your puppy needs.

* Puppies/dogs need daily Exercise, Discipline and Affection
You should exercise your dog/puppy for a minimum of  30 minutes at least once or twice a day. You can walk, jog,
run, etc.  with your puppy/dog. As long as they are getting excersie.

* Make sure that you read our
Dangers page , Care & Grooming page and
our
Feeding -Training page
Puppy Teeth
Puppies have 28 temporary teeth (called puppy teeth or milk teeth) that start coming in at around 4 weeks of age.
They usually fall out between 14 and 30 weeks of age and are then replaced by 42 adult teeth.
If your puppy is in this age range, you should keep some things in mind:

1. During this time, your pup may eat slightly less and chew more. Hard rubber or rawhide toys made especially for
dogs are a good investment to help prevent household damage.

2. If puppy teeth linger much longer than 30 weeks, take your puppy to your veterinarian.
This can cause problems and these teeth may need to be removed.
We are very experienced at shipping our alaskan malamute puppies by air,
